Friends of Diverse Learners - Fort Lee
A branch program of the School 3 PTAWe are a group of families and educators who are committed to building understanding and connections across differences, especially neurodiversity and disabilities. We are here to support, advocate, and create awareness today for a more inclusive tomorrow!HISTORY
Our very first support group started in September 2023, and has evolved into a membership rate of 54 parents/guardians. We host monthly meetings, which allows families with both Neurodiverse and Neurotypical children to learn from one another, and build relationships across all differences. One of our goals is to provide resources and support for this community, in their unique situations.SOCIAL EVENTS
Our group facilitates social gatherings to create a sense of community for Neurodiverse families. Previous events include: Valentine's Day party, bowling, luncheons, sip and paint.RECREATIONAL EVENTS
We are closely working the town of Fort Lee to bring recreational programs, specifically for neurodiverse children Fall 2024! Please be on the look out for the Fort Lee Recreation Center brochure, which will include neuro-friendly classes for children: including art, dance, and gymnastics!READ ALOUD PROGRAM (hosted April 2023 and April 2024 - Neurodiversity and Autism Awareness Month)
Parent/Guardian Volunteers reading books specifically geared at building awareness and to help educate Neurotypical children about what it means to be Neurodiverse. FODL believes that without education, there can never be true inclusion.WE THANK OUR PARTNERS!
